SWEET BABY GORDY | IPSWICH NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER | RACEVIEW PORTRAIT STUDIO

Meet sweet little Gordy, he was our special little Christmas baby, he was actually due on Christmas Day, but he was a perfect little gift who arrived early.

  Having beautiful photos of your baby when they are only just a few days old is very special. Imagine this little man when he is older looking at these photos of himself, I hope he looks back with smiles … 

Those first few weeks as a parent fly by in a blur ever so quickly. Quite often thinking about getting some photos taken is not high on the agenda when you are sleep deprived, your world has been turned upside down by the arrival of your new little addition. But believe me, you forget so quickly. They are only little for such a short time and newborn features disappear even more quickly. Those funny little expressions, flakey skin and tiny toes are soon replaced by smiles and chubby rolls. This is why I encourage mums to be to book in for their newborn session before your baby actually arrives and we can change the date if need be once you deliver. Looking back on photos of your tiny baby is something really special.

Braxton's mummy began planning his newborn session in the early days of her pregnancy, so needless to say that while the anticipation for them to meet their precious little boy was beyond words, I also was eagerly awaiting his arrival and could not wait to meet him.  He is known by the family as the little miracle baby.  He is such a handsome little man  and has his mummy and daddy lost for words.

Little baby Amelia was every bit as sweet as she looks here.  Such a darling little girl and so peaceful.  Captured here at 2.5 weeks of age, such a good little girl, as it's generally harder to achieve these poses, all the while keeping baby asleep.  My home based studio offers the perfect controlled environment for newborn portraits, fully equipped with heating and cooling, gentle soft music and props, blankets, headbands, beanies and wraps.  Sam I am sessions are NEVER rushed and there is always plenty of time and room for feeding and settling the new baby, and most importantly new mums can feel right at home on the lounge and relax with a cup of coffee and a book, while I get to work my magic and create gorgeous images of your brand new addition.

One of my most frequently asked questions is..... when is the ideal time to book in for your newborn portraits?.....There really isn't a hard or fast rule, it depends on the images that you want, typically under two weeks is ideal if it's the sleepy images you are after. Ideally, under 7 days is perfect.  Newborn babies tend to become less sleepy at around the 10 day mark, and are a little harder to settle.  Most expecting mother's pre-book their sessions for around their due date, and change this date according to when baby arrives.  I always keep spare weekday sessions for newborns so I can remain flexible in scheduling sessions.

It's been terribly (in a good way) hectic around here with newborn baby girl sessions, in fact, I have photographed 3 in a row, all equally as gorgeous.  Meet Harper, Harriet and Tallyn......each of these sessions took place at my home based studio located in Raceview.  My little studio is my newborn haven.  It is warm, cosy, smells divine and sounds great to boot.  I use a specially designed posing bag specifically for newborns, and gorgeous thick blankets and wraps.  There are cute little beanies, hand made headbands and all sorts of props to use as well, to add a personal element to each session.

KIDS ON LOCATION | BESGROVE KIDS | BRISBANE CHILDREN'S PHOTOGRAPHER

It has been many years since these kiddies were photographed, not since the youngest was a baby..... so this update was well overdue, and now they are going to welcome a fourth sibling to their expanding family, so their next update wont be too far down the track this time.  We live in the real world, and understand that life sometimes gets in the way, and family portraits, or the children's portraits often get pushed aside for so many different reasons.  We aim to make portraits a priority in your lives, giving gentle reminders and holding promotions an events to make it easy and affordable, when often it's not.  They become so much more than just a picture, as time goes by, they mean so much more.  So, this is another session from our Kids on Location Event, I am just loving the bond between these siblings, as they anticipate the arrival of another.

BABY JACOB | IPSWICH NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

Newborn portrait sessions are my favourite, I just love how calm and relaxed they are, when I feel that the mum has put her trust in me to achieve amazing results like these.


Meet Jacob, second baby boy for my good friends Sarah and Matt.  Big brother Tyler has been in front of my camera many times since he, himself was a newborn.  He is such a proud big brother and loves him so much, but he can't wait until Jacob is big enough to really play with. Jacob wasn't the "sleepiest" little bundle for his photo shoot, but I won the battle in the end.

BABY WYATT | IPSWICH NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

Wyatt is the "newest" addition to our family, born on the same day as his cousin Chelsea, about 20 hours apart, so although they share the same birthday, Wyatt is officially the "newest".  This year our family grew by 4 new babies, needless to say, they will all be very close in age, and hopefully all grow up close friends.  Christmas is going to be HECTIC, we are all so excited.

 I have been spoilt with newborns of late, and have been LOVING it, each session has been so different, and each with their own highlights.  I just loved how the blue wrap turned out in these images, it is the first time I have used it for a newborn session, and it looks great. I adore the colours for a little boy.  Wyatt is the first born son to my sister in-law and her husband, they are just over the moon with excitement, he is just the most adorable little man

TOMAS | NEWBORN PORTRAITS | BRISBANE NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

Tomas holds my world record for the sleepiest baby ever (especially for 2 weeks old), once we got him to sleep, I was able to pretty much get him into any position and work my magic.  Having photographed Toni at the end of her pregnancy made meeting Tomas in person even more special.

I think Tomas has the most doting family, it is so beautiful to see to love and connections, and beautiful memories being made right before my eyes. I just love these images, Tomas's dad is a big American Football fan, hence the first image of Tomas and his Gridiron helmet :)

TESS & JUSTICE | FAMILY PORTRAITS | IPSWICH FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER

I am fortunate enough to have many repeat clients, this is the second portrait session for Tess and her main little man Justice.  I had recently donated a portrait package to Cambells Crusade, Tess outbid a few very generous ladies in this online auction to raise much needed funds for a very special little boy. 

I believe that Justice would have to win a medal for the FASTEST crawler ever, my goodness that boy can move!!  I felt soooo comfortable with Tess and was so grateful for her mum Sharon's help in getting Justice's attention, she also captured our "behind the scenes" images. 

"It's not often you get to see what the whole scene looks like, so here you go, there I am, getting down and dirty with the best.  Justice beat me at the crawling race."

 "I love this little "man made" creek, I knew I wanted to photograph in here, but was a little worried about Justice near the water, so a nice sitting-holding shot gave this result below"

Introducing, 10 day old little Jesse.  He is the second addition to the family of fellow photographer Mel, from Mel B Photography.  A gorgeous little squishy friend for big brother Jayden, who I'm sure is so proud to the the BIG brother - the protector.  I just about went into cuteness overload with each image, just breathtaking innocence unfolding before my eyes.  It was lovely to meet both Jesse, and his mummy, and an absolute honour to create these gorgeous portraits of him.

Welcome to Sam I am | Portrait Photographer

Sam I am | Portrait Photographer was created after almost 6 years operating as Studio Instinct Photography.  It has been a personal decision made to reflect the type of custom photography I wish to capture now and into the future.  It's what I LOVE and it's the Custom Photography that my fantastic clients have come to expect and desire.  I enjoy creating personalised artwork to hang proudly in clients homes to be enjoyed for many years ahead.  It has been a long journey of self discovery and without the amazing people around me would not have been at all possible.  I guess you could say I've finally found the "dream" I've been chasing for so long.  Not too many people get to do what they truly enjoy and for this I am eternally thankful.  The trust others place in me to capture their families precious moments is never taken lightly as I continue to push my own boundaries - with a little help from my friends - to go above and beyond what is expected of a "normal photographer".
